Alpha courses are now running in many countries and the course is having a great impact on non-churchgoers and existing Christians.

Courses are also being run in prisons, businesses and schools.The Alpha Course has been developed  at Holy Trinity Brompton over the last twenty years.

What is Alpha?

  • a 10 session practical introduction to the Christian faith aimed especially at people who don't go to church;
  • an opportunity for anyone exploring the Christian faith to come along and ask questions;
  • low key, relaxed, and friendly;
  • supported by all the main Christian denominations.

Who can come?

  • no restriction everyone is welcome;
  • those who wish to investigate the bigger questions of Life;
  • those who wish to investigate Christianity;
  • new Christians;
  • newcomers to the Church;
  • those who want to brush up on the basics of the Christian faith.

All are equally valued and welcome and the course is free of charge .

How is it run?

  • a meal together offers the opportunity to talk and build relationships and get to know each other;
  • a video presentation introduces the topic;
  • breaking into small groups provides a chance to talk, listen, discover and a chance to ask anything.

What topics are covered?

  • Christianity: Is it untrue, boring, and irrelevant?
  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • How can I be sure of my faith?
  • Why and how should I read the Bible?
  • Why and how should I pray?
  • Who is the Holy Spirit?
